A year ago, another medical device company, Baymatob, raised about $3 million in funding to complete human clinical trials for an AI-powered labor monitoring device called Oli in Australia and the United States. The device uses sensors and AI to identify mothers who are at high risk for abnormal postpartum bleeding before delivery.

Across Australia, health services have begun to adopt digital technologies to improve efficiency in the management and support of pregnancy. For example, the North Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) recently digitized the delivery of prenatal care by implementing NALHN Pregnancy Online Platform, developed in conjunction with Personify Care. The platform features digital links that provide specific information about the patient’s stage of pregnancy. Last year, the Western Australian government started rolling out an AI-powered fetal tracking system called The K2 Health System Newborn Guardianship System across all National Health Service maternity facilities.
