Gilberto Ramirez exceeds the 7.6-pound limit, fights Gabriel Rosado

Gilberto Ramirez has said ahead of his return match against Gabriel Rosado after being overtaken by Dmitry Bivol in November that he is “ready”.

Obviously not.

According to organizer Golden Boy, the former 168-pound owner, scheduled to face Rosado on Saturday at Walter’s Pyramid in Long Beach, California, failed to weigh on Friday and the first-place match 175 pounds has been canceled.

Features of the collaboration between Joseph Diaz Jr. 140 pounds and Mercito Gesta will now be the main event (DAZN).

Golden Boy failed to release Ramirez’s weight. However, ESPN reports that he scored 182.6 before the official weight, exceeding the 7.6 limit.

Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs) is set to fight at 175 for the seventh time.

“Due to Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez not reaching the contracted weight, Zurdo vs. Rosado has been cancelled,” Golden Boy said in a press release. “We are very disappointed to have let our fans down and will be working with Gabriel Rosado to get him back in the ring soon.

“Joseph “JoJo” Diaz, Jr. versus Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta as the new main event taking place on Saturday, March 18.”

Diaz (32-3-1, 15 KOs) is a former 130-pound boxer but Angeleno has lost his last two fights, deciding broadly to Devin Haney (135) and William Zepeda (140).

Gesta (33-3-3, 17 KOs) is a former 135-pound title challenger from the Philippines. He’s about to have a unanimous decision win over Joel Diaz Jr. in April last year.
