Ghislaine Maxwell wants access to victim Jeffrey Epstein’s files before trial
Ghislaine Maxwell, the alleged wife and former associate of deceased billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, is said to have attempted to obtain records of Epstein’s victims.
She wanted access to documents from a settlement fund for victims of human trafficking. Maxwell is accused of trafficking minors to Epstein, who allegedly took his own life in a Brooklyn prison while awaiting trial in 2019.
Jordana Feldman, administrator of the Epstein Victims Compensation Program, denied her request.
The Victims Fund, which closed in August, is an independent and voluntary alternative to lawsuits and $125 million has been paid to more than 135 of Epstein’s victims. If they accept the money, the women must waive the right to sue Epstein and “related entities and/or individuals,” including Maxwell.
TRAILER ‘SURVIVING EPSTEIN’
Sigrid McCawley, an attorney for Annie Farmer, the second youngest victim in Maxwell’s indictment, blasted a letter written by Maxwell’s attorneys attacking Epstein’s victims.
McCawley wrote in a letter: “Maxwell was not indemnified for Mrs. Farmer, and she should not have an opinion as to why Mrs. Farmer was compensated by Estate”. “Actually, Maxwell would be quite pleased that she escaped civil liability in this case without paying a dime…”
