Germany is forced to burn 20% more coal, a huge source of energy will be eliminated – A sharp decrease because of that?

The energy source, which Germany is about to shut down, has rescued the country from widespread power outages in 2021.

Blackout News Report that much of Germany’s energy is being produced using coal and nuclear fuel. In 2021, due to unfavorable weather conditions, wind and solar energy production fell sharply in 2021 compared to 2020. “Germany’s electricity is getting dirtier and dirtier.”

The data is compiled by Arbeitsgemeinschaft Energiebilanzen (Working Group on Energy Budgets) and based on the first 9 months of the year. Compared to 2020, the first 9 months of 2021, primary energy consumption increased by 3.3% – mainly due to economic recovery.

20% increase in coal power in the first 9 months of 2021

But what surprised the experts, Blackout News Report, are energy supplies: “Here, the largest increases in absolute value can be seen in the coal-fired power plants that emit the most CO2. Hard coal consumption alone in the first three quarters of this year was 20% higher than the previous year. Power and heat generation from hard coal increased 28%. ”

Lack of wind and sun, although capacity is added

According to Blackout News: “The working group attributed the high additional coal consumption for energy production compared with the same period last year to unfavorable weather conditions for renewables. Wind and solar power plants delivered significantly less electricity compared to the same period last year despite higher installed capacity.”

The 2021 results further highlight the unreliability of green energy sources such as wind and solar as a stable source of energy, while reminding that plans to close nuclear and coal power plants are far from over. Germany’s return will be much more difficult than the US government believes.

Renewable power output plummeted 16.1%

Blackout News writes: “Regarding total energy consumption, the share of renewables has decreased by a total of 16.1% year over year. “Electricity from wind power plants fell sharply, 18% for onshore plants and 14% for offshore plants.”

Solar is even worse, producing half of what it was the year before.

To make up for the shortfall in wind and solar energy, both coal plants and nuclear power plants have had to suspend operations. However, these are two conventional energy sources that the government aims to use completely offline by 2038 (nuclear by 2024!). Some energy experts warn that this is the cause of grid disaster – especially as the German government moves to put more electric cars on the road.

Faint power failure

But if the government sticks to its planned shutdown of coal-fired power plants, it is only a matter of time before the supply collapse, Blackout News warned. Therefore, be well prepared for prolonged power outages.”
