GALLERY: 2022 Honda City 1.5 V sedan and City Hatchback 1.5 RS e: HEV hybrid; RM91k – RM110k
Debut in Malaysia last DecemberThe Honda City Hatchback appears with a body style that closely resembles the City sedan, at least from the front, as it is now. The fourth generation Honda Jazz has not yet found an official way into the Malaysian market.
Why not Jazz? According to City Hatchback major project leader Rei Sakamoto, the City’s nameplate has become a well-built brand and the development of both sedan and hatchback models has been combined to maximize efficiency and construction. both models are on the same platform, and the decision was made to target the regional market.
So that’s the City nameplate in both sedan and hatchback form that we received in the Malaysian market, and here we have put together an example of each – a City 1.5LV sedan and a City Hatchback 1.5 RS e: HEV.
The City Hatchback is here in an RS version that features an e:HEV hybrid powertrain, features a 109hp / 253Nm electric motor for propulsion, and is charged by a 1.5-liter Atkinson engine making 98hp. at 5,600 rpm to 6,400 rpm and 127 Nm from 4,500 rpm to 5,000 rpm; the latter can also clutch to boost the e-motor for extra drive at higher speeds where it’s most efficient.
City sedan and City Hatchback are nearly identical, especially from the front, although there is a difference in equipment for the hatchback version in the RS trim, which is a black honeycomb grille with a colored grille. Gloss black, the interior is darkened for the LED headlights, the front fog lights surround with wide-open glass doors and a fake insert diffuser for rear bumper.
For comparison, the front of the City sedan version 1.5 V has a chrome grille, a horizontal bar grille and inserts around the regular-sized fog lights, along with the bottom air intake of the same body color. (black on the hatchback’s RS trim).
Moving to the sides, the 1.5 V sedan gets side mirror caps in the same body color while those on the 1.5 RS e:HEV hatch come in gloss black. Rolling on the 1.5 RS e: The HEV is a two-tone 16-inch alloy wheel finished with 185/55 sized tires, while the City 1.5 V sedan has identically sized wheels and tires, though before This is just an ending tune.
The most obvious difference between the City sedan and the Hatchback lies behind the front seats, although there are also differences between the two at the front.
The dashboard architecture is the same between the sedan and the hatchback, with differences in detail brought about by their respective trims. packages. Hatchback’s RS trim features gloss black for the steering wheel cover, ambient air vents and contrasting red stitching on the leather and suede upholstery along with red contrast stitching on the steering wheel.
For comparison, the 1.5 V sedan’s black leather seats are offset by cream-colored panels, matching contrast stitching and silver-colored air vents around.
At first glance, the rear passenger compartment of the City Hatchback and the sedan seems similar when the seats are positioned correctly. The Hatchback’s versatility becomes apparent as the Ultra seats can be folded to accommodate tall items in the cabin, with the seat base folding back to create space on the cabin floor for cargo.
The City sedan’s rear seats can also be folded down, albeit with a smaller aperture due to the fixed rear baffle. In terms of luggage capacity, the City 1.5 V sedan holds 519 liters (409 liters if you opt for the full RS e:HEV hybrid due to the smart power unit), while the City Hatchback holds 289 liters with the seats, or 841 liters with the rear seats folded. Loaded up to its roof, the Hatchback will take 1,189 liters.
As of July 1, 2022, they are priced RM90,600 (without sensor) and RM109,800respectively, the following brand price adjustment now includes excise tax. Both the City Hatchback and City sedan come with a five-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty and come with five times free labor service. On hybrid variants, the lithium-ion battery is covered by an eight-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty.
