Coming back in February 2021 Haven from The Game Bakers, a style game best played in co-op. In the end it’s a love story about a couple, with their relationship evolving between all of the resource-gathering and rhythmic fighting; We quite like it in ours Haven Reviews.
The development team has now released a free ‘Couple Update’ on all platforms (including Switch), allowing players to choose same-gender options. You can play with the original Yu and Kay, or options with two women or two men, with character adjustments for each option. The gameplay and story remain the same, so it simply offers alternative options for the main actor pairing.
It seems that many characters and couples were part of the original plan, but because the development team had to prioritize production, some of the ideas had to be put on hold.
This update is special for us. Originally, the concept for Haven featured eight couples, with different types of relationships. Obviously during production we wouldn’t be able to achieve our initial vision of the full cast, so we focused on two characters that you know well. But right after the game came out, we went back to working on this update to add alternate pairs!
