Forza Horizon 5 will add sign language support after launch
Playground Games will add sign language interpreters Forza Horizon 5of movies, in addition to a long list of accessibility features. The developers are currently working on support for American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL), which will be in the game soon. They also detailed some of the accessibility options the game has since launch today, including reading the screen, modifying the game speed, and more.
“We want everyone in the world to be able to experience our game,” wrote creative director Mike Brown in a blog post. Xbox Wire blog post last week. “And with an estimated 400 million gamers with disabilities globally, it’s important that all players be able to tailor their play to the way that works best for them.”
The ASL and BSL interpreters will pop up in picture-in-picture screens in the Forza 5 movies. Unfortunately, Brown doesn’t give an exact release date for the feature, but says it’s “coming soon”.
The game has a bunch of accessibility options right now, including; modifying game speed will allow players to race at reduced speeds while offline, high contrast mode, color blind settings, customizable subtitles and menu text, screen reading, transition options text-to-speech and voice-to-text for voice chat etc
“These are just some of the accessibility features we’re building, and we’re constantly listening to the community to make Forza Horizon 5 a holistic experience for everyone,” added Brown.
Forza Horizon 5 launched early last week to those who pre-ordered it, but it’s available to everyone now. Find it on Microsoft Store and Steam costs £50/€60/$60, as well as Xbox Game Pass for PC and consoles.
