Henry Paulson serve under President George Bush (Jnr) from 2006 to 2009.
Personally, I find it shocking that someone like Paulson would urge more cooperation with China, given that the FBI has a website dedicated to the “China Threat,” detailing the alleged scheme of things. China aims to dominate the world by stealing American technological secrets and using covert means to influence US public opinion which, in my opinion, may include attracting their interest in powerful US influencers.
China’s threat
Counterintelligence and economic espionage efforts stemming from the Chinese government and The Chinese Communist Party is a serious threat to the economic prosperity and democratic values of the United States.
Confronting this threat is the FBI’s top counterintelligence priority.
To be clear, the opponent is not Chinese or of Chinese descent or heritage. The threat comes from programs and policies pursued by an authoritarian government.
The Chinese government is adopting tactics that seek to influence lawmakers and public opinion to achieve policies that are more favorable to China.
At the same time, the Chinese government is seeking to become the world’s greatest superpower through predatory lending and business practices, systematic theft of intellectual propertyand brazen cyber intrusions.
China’s efforts target businesses, academic institutions, researchers, legislators and the public and will require a full society response. Governments and the private sector must commit to working together to better understand and combat threats.

Was former Bush official Henry Paulson so naive about the China threat that he hadn’t read the FBI’s page? Or does he think tackling climate change is a bigger priority that risks more cooperation, which could open the door for hostile Chinese spies to destroy Chinese exceptionalism. Ky?
Note that I’m not accusing Paulson of anything nefarious, it’s entirely justified that he’s one of those people who think that climate change is a crisis that transcends all other considerations. That may be why the Chinese Communist Party invited Paulson to speak at their conference.
Whatever the explanation, in my opinion, the worst that the US can do right now is to follow the advice of the CCP’s propaganda department and ask China to cooperate more, have more access to technology America and have more opportunities to influence the American public.
