Experts share how to make your perfume last longer
To say our beauty team love the fragrance is an understatement. We often write poetry about our favorites in our Slack channel, but the question remains how do you get your crush signature scent to the end all day? Well, there’s no simple answer, but there are a few key tips you should know if you want to keep your perfume longer. I tapped two experts to give us a bit more insight.
Based on Brianna Arps, perfumer and mood founders, it is important to first understand what makes a fragrance. “Most perfumes and fragrances have three layers with top, middle and bottom notes,” she says. “Top notes are the ingredients of a perfume that you smell first. They’re a prelude to what’s to come, if you will. They tend to evaporate quite quickly, giving way to middle notes— The ‘heart’ or ‘body’ of the scent—to grow and take center stage. When those scents wear off, you’ll leave behind base notes that act as the fragrance’s anchor. often include rich, deep ingredients such as sandalwood, vanilla, patchouli and musk, for example, conveying the most lasting impression.”
