EV Chargers Measured Separately – Gain a lot of juice with that?

A few weeks ago, the government announced plans for new regulations that would require domestic electric car chargers to be programmed to operate only at off-peak times.
It is well acknowledged that car charging simply overloads the grid, if drivers are charging in the evening that is very likely.
There seems to be a lot more that we don’t know, as one reader received this message from Vodafone:

Forget all the fidgeting – the plan is clear; If the grid is overloaded, we may forget to charge the car at night. We can only charge when National Grid says we can.
