Estoril hosted the penultimate round of WorldSBK, the Hungarian round was canceled
WorldSBK Calendar 2024
The WorldSBK 2024 campaign will now tour Circuito Estoril in October after the Hungarian Tour scheduled for August was cancelled.
The Estoril round will take place from October 11-13, becoming the penultimate round in the 2024 campaign.
The Portuguese venue will host the WorldSBK, WorldSSP and WorldWCR, classes originally scheduled to race at Balaton Park in August, alongside the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European SuperFinale.
Due to site work in Hungary not being completed by the scheduled date (August 23 – August 25), Balaton Park will no longer host the WorldSBK. Estoril’s round will take place a week before the season finale at Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, making for an action-packed end to the season.
Estoril last hosted the WorldSBK tournament in 2022 and delivered thrilling racing. In World Superbike, all three races went down to the final round with incredible battles involving Jonathan Rea, Alvaro Bautista and Toprak Razgatlioglu.
In WorldSSP, Dominique Aegerter claimed a double win, while in WorldSSP300, Samuel Di Sora made an incredible comeback from 31st on the grid to claim a sensational yet unbelievable victory. In 2020, the Portuguese venue was where Rea won his unprecedented sixth title.
