NSW Health has selected Epic to deliver the single Digital Patient Records project which seeks to unify all EMR and pathology information systems across the state.
Subject to the successful completion of contract negotiations, Epic’s supply contract will replace nine EMR platforms, six PASs, five pathologic LIMS, and several other clinical support systems currently available by Cerner , Orion Health, DXC, Citadel and Integrated Software Solutions offer .
SDPR will provide comprehensive, real-time electronic access to medical records across NSW Health, including 15 Local Health Districts (LHDs), two specialist health networks and all Department of Health pathology laboratories NSW.
According to eHealth NSW chief executive and CIO, Dr Zoran Bolevich, they engaged more than 350 relevant professionals, including clinicians, scientists and technical experts, to evaluate their offer. Epic.

Epic, still The best Klas software suite in 12 years, is also delivering the ACT’s statewide Digital Health Records system. The ACT government in August invested an additional $35 million in the project, which is expected to come online this year.
Meanwhile, the NSW government last year invested over $105 million in SDPR. The system will work first at Hunter New England LHD before rolling out statewide.
