Hello and welcome to Sportsstar’s LIVE coverage of the third day of the India-UK Fifth Test from Edgbaston in Birmingham.

UPDATE COMMENTS

ENG 233/6 for 50 rounds: Maiden overtook Bumrah followed by another bubbly Thakur overtaking as Billings got the lead over mid and Bumrah comebacks and just missed it. Bumrah beat the Billings’ edge on a few occasions with good length. It took Thakur a while to finish his shot as he made three passes – his fourth without the ball in the game so far.

ENG 227/6 in 48 rounds: A double for Billings off the good footbed and England dodged the next with four shots in hand. Thakur bent one short leg and crouched down. Pant jumped up but couldn’t reach and it ran to the boundary. Also a ball has no so five runs it is. FOUR! Bairstow hit this punch with his back foot between point and cover and a deep deflection allowed the boundary and Bairstow got 100 of his 119 balls. Ranked third in three matches.

ENG 215/6 in 47 rounds: Bumrah lost the first ball. Spray on the pad and fill and Billings clamp it to the rear boundary for FOUR! Bairstow moved to 96 with a single. Billings drove away from his body and it flew off the bottom of the bat and through the slide to find another one. FOUR!

18:00 IST: Shardul will do his part. The player returns to the field. Full and straight and Bairstow threw this ball to the first midwicket boundary after halftime for FOUR run. ENG 204/6 in 46 passes.

17:42 IST: Play will continue at 6pm IST at Edgbaston.

17:29 IST: There will be another delay in resuming play as there is still drizzle around.

Play will continue at 5:25pm IST After another shower, play was limited for the first session, leading to an early lunch break. Hopefully the overhead conditions will be favorable for the match to resume on time. England have once again held their ground on the water as Bairstow, who is 91-match unbeaten and has showcased a brand of aggressive cricket endorsed by captain Ben Stokes’ new keeper and coach Brendon McCullum .

FOR LUNCH

Just before the rain stopped, Bairstow was sidelined by Thakur but he reconsidered immediately, certain that there was an outside advantage.

RAIN STEPS PLAY

ENG 196/6 in 44 rounds: Bairstow aimed at Thakur with a ramp shot and squared off two enemies with their backs to each other. In the middle there is a shadow change for India. Bairstow was unchallenged as he hit a short ball from Siraj in round six before knocking Thakur down four and six. He was hitting the ball like a haunted man.

ENG 160/6 out of 40 voiceovers: WICKET! Shardul Thakur had dropped a simple Ben Stokes chance earlier. But he made amends by letting him get caught in his first attempt. He was dropped by Bumrah in the middle of the fourth ball. The next ball, Stokes tries to simulate a similar shot – looks to clear the ball midway and Bumrah dashes to his left to catch it. Sam Billings joins Bairstow. Billings has no boundaries. Bairstow continued to play active cricket.

ENG 141/5 for 36 rounds: Bairstow maneuvered a Bumrah-sized ball from the center of the field for four more. Shami threw around the wicket for Stokes with three misses and a groove. Stokes cut a short track of Shami in front of the square for four more balls before Bairstow went in the air, cutting a long ball into a long ball for four in the same place. Meanwhile, Siraj replaces Bumrah and gives his hind legs to Bairstow, who is driving at the same time. Next, Shardul gave up a simple chance for Stokes to beat Shami at bowling. Stokes hit the ball on the 18th. The batter ran a single ball and Bairstow hit the next two balls for four. Bracket 50 goes up.

ENG 100/5 for 32 rounds: Bumrah from the other end of the line. Round the rack to Stokes with three slides and a groove. Stokes gives Bumrah a kick and is defeated while moving away from him. The England captain also missed the track a couple of times on Day 2. Meanwhile, Bumrah was without the ball with his front foot and Stokes hit the next ball midway through for four. Shami continued to swing the broomstick towards Stokes, who plunged again and hit it to the ground four times. Bumrah has a person to form into Stokes, who has an edge inside her box. Shami, meanwhile, is in the middle of a spell dream. He is all over Bairstow, who is seen chatting animatedly with Virat Kohli. Between persuasion, Bairstow and Kohli delivered a friendly second-person stab at Bairstow

ENG 84/5 in 28 rounds: Shami with ball. Bairstow went on strike. Start with a wide ball down the side of the foot. Make it jump in. Three slides and a slot for Jonny. Shami gets the ball as well as the seam with a substantial bounce. Starting with girlhood.

We are all ready to continue playing. Team India in group chat. Bumrah talks to her teammates. Head out to Bairstow and Stokes.

14.41: That would be Shami and Bumrah, vs Bairstow and Stokes. Former England captain Nasser Hussain felt the Dukes balls seemed to soften quite quickly, and then when they softened, they disappeared. So if Bairstow and Stokes can move towards a partnership, Britain might consider going to war. Only 38.5 passes were offered yesterday. Of course, we should have more crickets when the weather permits.

14h30: Welcome back. The sun goes down in Birmingham. Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes are in dire straits. They created magic in the recent past. Can they do it again? The hunting dogs in India are hunting in a pack. Siraj has yet to get a lasting crack against the British players. But Bumrah and Shami, and especially the latter, were flawless and relentless in their lines and lengths. British trail with 332 runs.

HOW DAY 2 WAS CHANNELED

Ravindra Jadeja continued Day 2 on the 83rd and reached the third hundred challenge from 183 balls. Stuart Broad was the most expensive player in the Tests, conceding 35 times in an astounding morning session. UK closed May 84 in response to India’s 416- REPORT
