Elden Ring has an easily overlooked check mark feature – Destructoid

Perfect for tracking random caves and catacombs as the world map unfolds

It’s easy to overlook so many small aspects of Elden Ring, and that feeling extends to something as simple as a checkmark to remind yourself that you’ve done everything at any Grace Site. I’ve been playing the game for 76 hours and I know nothing about this trick.

Calling this checklist feature a “trick” is probably overkill, since it’s always hidden in plain sight, right there in the user interface. But I bet many of us are too busy staring at the illustrated map to notice each piece of contextual text at the bottom of the screen.

As pointed out by Reddit user Vasciowhen you drag the map up in Elden Ring, you can toggle the list of all Grace’s Places by region using the Triangle button on PS4/PS5 – I’m sure you’ve seen it! From there, you can scroll through the names as you like, but here’s the part that’s new to me: while on this list, you can click on the right analog bar to add or remove the on each site of the Site of Grace. For clarity, this is separate from map marker allows you to stamp swords or skulls or whatever has you directly on the map.

Here’s a screenshot I took with markers in three places right at the start Elden Ring:

See the little stars next to the Site of Grace’s name? It’s a transformation!

How did I miss this? Well, without spoiling anything, right clicking on the like bar is used for something else entirely when you’re just looking at the world map without the Site of Grace list pulled up. So again, when you activate that location list (with the Triangle button), the right sidebar functionality changes to allow you to add or remove check marks.

Of course, you can use these marks however you want; that’s the beauty of it. For instance, there might be an important NPC nearby that you have unfinished business with. If you want to use the markup as a to-do list, you can actually tap the Triangle again to only show your Bookmarked Grace Sites – so that seems like the intended approach .

And a bonus tip from pyrozew: with the list up, you can press the Square button on PS4 / PS5 to along Organize Roundtable hub without having to flip through its name and select it.

Regarding map markers, I used skulls (besides areas where there was an optional boss that was too hard to kill at the time) and sword marks (for figurines that needed Stonesword keys), among several others. With this discovery, however, I’ll be sure to leave a check mark on any Grace Site that feels “complete”. I’ll try not to think too much about it.

It’s not the most comprehensive feature (so don’t throw away your full noun notebook), but it will do the job for many of us. It’s just less cluttered, you know?

The timing couldn’t be better, as I’ve just entered the post-game phase where I can fire up New Game+ anytime, but I don’t want to switch until I see (more or less) everything. Still ton optional locations to just explore, explore much less.

I’ll check them out when I start, this is a lot better than the final cross-reference-everything-with-the-wiki process I’m starting to get scared.
