Easy Product Photography: We Review Ombar Light Boxes

The Ombar Photo Studio Light Box is a 24” x 24” LED light box designed to make product photography simple, even for those with limited studio skills. In this review, we discuss the features, pros and cons, and whether this might be the lightbox for you.

overview

The Ombar comes in a small box, as it is collapsible and folds flat. The product is well packaged and the assembly is simple enough that the accompanying instructions are virtually unnecessary. The light box includes 5 backdrops (black, white, blue, red, and beige), an LED dimmer switch that can adjust color temperature from 3,000-6,500K, and a light diffuser. When folded, the Ombar has an included handle.

What we like

One of the best features of this product is how simple it is to set up and adjust based on needs. Since all panels are glued together, popping the top panel to switch backgrounds takes only a few seconds. The box has windows on the front and top that fold down and make shooting from a variety of angles quite easy. The inside of the box is also lined with a reflective silver material.

The light emitted is very bright and even, especially when using a white background. Since the box has two front and one top windows, it’s a simple matter of capturing your subject from a variety of angles to capture as much detail as possible.

Switching between colored backdrops is also a streamlined process and requires opening the lid of the box, peeling back the diffuser material (if you’re using it), and removing the existing backdrop, which is attached via two small velcro square.

Overall, the lightbox delivers a pleasant experience in terms of setup, use, luminous efficiency, and results.

What we don’t like

The biggest downside to Ombar is found when using any colored backdrop, as the background color will be noticeably lighter than the bottom back edge of the box (where the backdrop touches the back of the box and points upwards). .

Another downside to the box is that the front window doesn’t go all the way to the bottom, which means you have to open the front of the box to photograph an item straight in and not from a slight angle (unless you place it with flat and shot from above, may not be ideal for all items).

Last impression

General Ombar photography light box It’s an easy-to-find, easy-to-use tool that’s best for photographers or business owners who need high-quality photos of their products without investing in a lot of gear or studio knowledge. For a small LED light box, it provides excellent light and is versatile enough to easily photograph a wide range of products, all housed in a portable package.
