Watch: Police open fire over protest ‘threatening’ Dutch farmers
KURT ZINDULKA
July 6, 2022Dutch police have opened fire on Dutch farmers who are protesting the implementation of EU climate rules on nitrogen emissions that threaten the livelihoods of thousands.
On Tuesday night, police fired what they said were warnings and “targeted” a farmer’s protest in Heerenveen, in the north of the country. Friesland Police claimed a “threatening situation” ensued after protesters allegedly attempted to drive past lines of police and law enforcement vehicles, demanding the use of guns.
The incident, footage of which was widely shared on social media, did not result in any injuries, although three protesters were arrested and one tractor was hit by bullets. De Telegraaf newspapers report.
The National Criminal Investigation Service (Rijksrecherch) said an investigation into the incident would be launched as the officers discharged their weapons.
The use of force by the police was condemned by the Farmers Agractie protest group, which questioned whether “people must die first” before the government came to the negotiating table with farmers, adding that the situation was could get much worse. .
ACP police union representative Maarten Brink said it was unclear from footage posted on social media what was needed to open fire, saying police officers “never just took” their weapons. without reason.

The following is the twitter video of the incident (h/t Breitbart);
The police did not shoot into the air – the tractor is believed to have been hit.
I am deeply disgusted by this action. Leaving aside the Dutch government’s frenzied assault on food production in what was supposed to be a very difficult year, the peasant protester being shot does not appear to threaten the lives of the police or anyone else. Perhaps there are extenuating circumstances that I’m not aware of, but this seems to be one of the most serious acts of authoritarian state violence I’ve ever written, perpetrated by people trying to enforce a reduction in the amount of money they consume. Dutch insane nitrate fertilizer. It was just luck that no one died.
