Duck feathers run in the New York City Marathon and win hearts

Pekin the duck competed in the New York City Marathon and fooled everyone.

The New York City Marathon just celebrated its 50th race, and it’s a race for the books. More than 33,000 runners ran 26.2 miles through five boroughs of NYC streets, but they weren’t alone.

Wrinkle the Duck wears custom shoes (made by her parents) alongside runners who are both inspiration and entertainment.

The adorable duck has been trained for this “since he was a baby duckling,” says proud mother, Justin Woods.

Pekin ducks have become popular as pets because of their friendly and docile nature. They will also follow you around like a puppy.

Wrinkle is used to wandering the streets of New York with her parents, but her favorite thing is… running.

A video of her running in a marathon is posted on YouTube, which has since grown in popularity.

“The wrinkly duck is not only a beautiful white duck, it is also a fully grown baby. She is fast. She is speed. She is zooming in. She is wrinkled. Still as fast as a duck” note video.

Countless people on the sidelines were cheering her on. They shouted, “You have this!”

But what percentage of the race did Wrinkle actually run?

According to her parents, she ran “30-50 feet, so maybe like half a block,” but she did it three times. She finished her race in Brooklyn and then mingled with all her fans.

The friendly duck is not bothered by noise or crowds and has participated in many events.

She is training for next year’s race.
