Donald Trump: Documents seized in Mar-a-Lago raid ‘details foreign government’s nuclear capabilities’ | World News

A document describing a foreign government’s military defenses, including nuclear capabilities, is believed to have been found during a search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida home last month.

The Washington Post, citing people close to the matter, reported findings during the raid but did not identify the foreign government discussed in the document.

It also does not say whether foreign governments are friendly or hostile to the United States.

An FBI spokesman declined to comment on the report.

Newly sealed FBI documents about the Mar-a-Lago investigation not only give new details about the investigation but also reveal clues about the arguments his legal team intends to make. . The May 25 letter from one of his lawyers was attached as an affidavit promoting a broad view of executive power, asserting that the commander-in-chief has absolute authority to declassify whatever he wants and that the primary law governing the handling of information applies to other government officials but not to the president. The FBI recovered more than 11,000 government documents and photos during an August 8 search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, according to court records.

According to a Postal Service report, some of the seized documents detailing top secret US operations required special clearance, not just top secret clearance.

Some of the documents were so restricted that even some of the highest-ranking national security officials in the Biden administration were not authorized to review them, the Post said.

The US Justice Department is investigating Trump for deleting government records from the White House after he departed in January 2021 and storing them at Mar-a-Lago.

On Monday, a federal judge agreed Trump’s request for the appointment of a special master to review records seized during the FBI search, a move likely to delay the Justice Department’s criminal investigation.
