Former US Open champion Dominic Thiem defeated Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (5) in the first round of the ATP250 event in Bastad, Sweden on Tuesday.
It was the Austrian’s first win since he returned to professional tennis in March this year after sitting out for nine months with a wrist injury at the 2021 Mallorca Championship.
