Dolly Parton has no plans to tour again: NPR

Legendary country singer Dolly Parton has no plans to return to the road and touring – although there are plans to release a new rock album.
“I don’t think I’ll tour again, but I know I’ll be doing special shows here and there, now and then,” Parton said in an interview with Pollstar magazine published Thursday. “Maybe do a weekend long gig, or just a few shows at a festival. But I don’t intend to do a full-fledged tour anymore.”
Parton, 76, says that at this point in her career, she wants to not live too far away from her family.
“I like being a little closer to home with my husband,” Parton said. “We’re getting older now and I don’t want to have to leave for four or five weeks. Something can happen,” Parton said. “I wouldn’t feel right about that.”
Parton’s team did not respond to a request for additional comment from NPR.
Parton’s last tour was her 2016 Pure and Simple tour, which spanned more than 60 cities in the US and Canada – becoming her biggest North American tour in more than 25 years.
Although she has no plans to tour, Parton’s career is far from over. In the same interview, Parton confirmed that she was working on a rock album after she finished work on a film adaptation of James Patterson’s best-selling novel “Run, Rose” , Run.”
“I’m collecting all that stuff and telling a few people,” Parton said. “I’m looking forward to it.”
The country singer hinted that she hopes to ask artists like Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus and Chris Stapleton to feature.
The prospect of a new album appears as Parton is coming out introduce inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 5, Parton sought to withdraw from the nomination, saying she didn’t think she had “earn that right“but the organization said she would still on this year’s ballot.
