Dog left in shelter with detailed portrait after 12 years with a family
Most dog parents can never imagine giving up on their furry friends, but for families facing tough times, keeping everyone together doesn’t help. not always easy. A senior dog named Abby has been assigned to a shelter in Virginia along with all of her belongings, including a detailed portrait, two pockets of sweaters, and 12 years of vet records.
It was clear that Abby’s family loved and pampered her very much. However, according to the shelter, they are facing a difficult situation that GoFundMe cannot solve. So they know the best decision for their beloved dog is to find her a new family that can properly support her.
Hold onto her stuff
Sanctuary Rescue heard about Abby’s story and took her in their care. Although they weren’t allowed to talk to the Abby family like the shelter did, they didn’t make any judgments. They can tell that Abby is so loved, so now they are determined to find her a new home where she will receive as much, if not more, love.
“Today we rescued a sweet 12-year-old girl who was brought to the shelter with her bed, toys, 12-year veterinary records, two sweater pockets and a framed portrait of her. her,” Sanctuary Rescue wrote on Facebook. “We are thinking of hanging a portrait of the dog in our office to remind us to be humble, to give grace, to spend our energy on loving instead of judging, and to always help where we are. and when possible because you never know what the future holds. hold and what life can throw at you.
The rescue team found a foster home for Abby and they say she’s settled down. Her whole life so far has been in the same house, so she seems excited to meet new people and dogs.
Ready for adoption
Abby is yet to be adopted, but she will after a vet check and the rescue team get to know her better. Her adoptive mother said she quickly made her own at home by trying every dog bed in the house. She also loves delicious snacks like fruit and cheese.
“Our foster mother assured us that Abby, the old hound, was at home on her own. Yesterday, she was busy trying out every single dog bed in the house. She thinks she’s Goldilocks,” Sanctuary Rescue wrote.
