DOE Secretary Granholm at CERA – Frustrated with that?

From MasterResource

By Robert Bradley Jr. – March 21, 2022

“We are in a state of war — a state of emergency — and we must responsibly step up in the short term. [oil and gas] provided…. And that means Friend produce more right away, where and if you can. (Minister Granholm, March 9, 2022)

“Believe me, it would be foolish not to see that this queen has no clothes.” (RLB, below)

I have been a critic of the United States Department of Energy (DOE) since its inception in 1977. And I have never read a speech more fanciful and pathetic than this one. Yes, it’s very well written (despite the speech writer). But how do you square round; and how do you eat your cake and have it too?

We’re having a climate crisis, aren’t we? It is an “existential threat”, Statuses President Biden. It’s “no exaggeration, about survival,” Statuses John Kerry.

So why would the puppet, scripted Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm come begging Big Oil to increase oil production, despite carbon dioxide emissions?

It’s all political. But the hypocrisy of reset reset, no matter how short-term it may be, is limitless. (And many people on the Left remain silent, even though a lot of true believers go to rehab or try deal with their anger.)

Believe me, it would be foolish not to see that this queen has no clothes.

Excerpt from Secretary DOE stated of March 9, 2022, followed (subtitles added):

Please add oil – We appreciate it

President Biden announced yesterday that the United States will ban the import of Russian oil…. Bravo for BP, Exxon, Shell and others in the private sector are pulling out of Russian operations. But there is more work to be done….

We are in a state of war — an emergency — and we must step up in the short term responsibly. [oil and gas] supply where we can right now to stabilize the market and minimize the damage to American families…. And that means Friend produce more right awaywhere and if you can….

So yes, right now, we need to produce oil and gas to meet current demand….

For over a hundred years, the oil and gas industry has powered our nation and brought us to where we are today. We are forever grateful for that….

Climate emergency

And at the same time, the war in Ukraine is not the only thing that has caused shock waves in the energy sector. We also have to take into account the impacts of climate change — and the clean energy transition isn’t just coming; it is here.

Do not make noise

You all know it – you’re struggling with it: yours the investors is demanding action for the climate. And yours customer are demanding climate action — seventy percent of Americans vote in favor of a clean energy transition….

I see – this is hard…. But we cannot do that if we are fighting internally. Some here (or at least the Beltway lobbyists and politicians) seem to think it’s time to recycle old arguments.

Not Biden’s fault

People are arguing that if an oil pipeline that isn’t even working now is still under construction, the situation for oil prices today would be different in some way.

Or that President Biden’s policies have reduced output, when we really take note natural gas and LNG levels, and will be at record levels of oil production next year. When there are more than 9,000 drilling permits onshore are not being used. We all know it’s the same old BS DC.

Take our bribe!

Finally we are not ready to work yet together To face this moment of crisis… and become stronger on the other side?

I’m here to tell you that the Department of Energy and the entire Biden administration are ready to work with you to seize the opportunity in clean energy.

That means we have to deploy clean technologies as quickly as possible — but let’s not be under the illusion that every American will have an electric car or a heat pump tomorrow or next month or next year.

It is a forward… And we’re pragmatic about what it means. We know that won’t happen overnight. And we’re serious about decarbonization when reliable power supply without dependence on foreign competitors. That means we will be walking and chewing gum at the same time….

And we’re here to work with anyone and everyone who is serious about taking a giant leap into the future… by diversifying your energy portfolio to add fuels and clean technology. , like many of you are starting or have been doing… by creating high paying jobs for your talented workforce in the energy industry of the future… and by reaping the benefits. The result of the clean energy market will surpass $23 trillion by the end of this decade.

Maybe you’re excited about clean hydrogen. Maybe it’s carbon capture and storage. Maybe it’s offshore wind… geothermal… lithium from geothermal brine… sustainable aviation fuel… electric charging… you name it.

We stand ready to work with the private sector through the $62 billion Congress just gave us in the bipartisan Infrastructure Act. Most of that funding is used through competitive grants… and we look forward to receiving your best and most creative ideas.

I am here to expand the partnership … because we will only be able to meet these challenges in terms of oil and gas supply. and climate change by working together.

Ukraine… Clean energy?

For me, Putin’s actions and the determination of the Ukrainian people bring me than determined to get this energy transformation right….

And we want you to power this country to next hundred years with zero carbon technology.

Good history?

It’s hard to see the history in the making. But we are on the cusp of the most significant transition that human society has ever seen. I hope we will look back to 2022 as the year the world took giant strides to improve energy security and tackle climate change.

And to do that – on the right track of history – we need to work together. Let’s get started now.
