David Guindon, a resident of San Bernardino, California suffered a heart attack and stroke, which left him disabled, wheelchair-bound and in need of an assistance animal. In 2014, he adopted and bonded with Zeus, a Husky professionally trained to handle the tasks David needed support.

Two years ago, a nurse working at David’s house left the door unlocked, and Zeus wandered out of the house. David hasn’t seen his dog since but has been frantically searching, leaving flyers and even hiring a pet detective to track down his missing dog. Since then, he has adopted and begun training a new dog, Zero, to help him, but he has not given up hope of finding Zeus.

A year and a half after Zeus went missing, David received a call from Home Again, the company that had registered Zeus’ microchips. David is overjoyed to hear that his dog has been found, but unfortunately, that doesn’t mean he’s coming home. Home Again explains that a woman wants to re-register the microchip in her name and they are asking David’s permission to authorize it. David refused and explained that his dog had not yet surrendered, it was lost and he wanted it back.

See original story from ABC7 here:

A woman found Zeus and refused to return him to David even though the microchip had his information and the company would not re-register it. She explained that Husky was attached to her autistic child and she would absolutely not give it up. Home Again was unable to provide David with the woman’s information to contact her. Desperate to see his dog again, David contacted local animal control for help, but they didn’t have any information about Zeus or the woman, as Zeus never took care of him. surname.

David then contacted his local law enforcement and filed a police report, but when they visited the woman’s home, she told them Zeus had run away.

David spoke to KABC News in San Bernardino, and his story quickly went viral as people became outraged that someone could be so callous as to refuse to return one’s beloved service dog. disabled men. But on the day that David’s interview was shared with the public, he received another call, this time from a policeman saying that the woman who raised Zeus had a change of heart and handed him over. I give it to the local animal control agency.

Today, the two are finally reunited! Zeus is able to return home with David, and meet his new brother, Zero.

Zeus and David look so happy to see each other again! That was the happiest ending this sad story could have.
