Dining Room Library – A beautiful Mess

I saw a library dining room on Pinterest, and the rest is history! I was obsessed with it until I could build my own. After living in this house for a few months, I started dreaming about constructions.

When we first moved in, our house was empty, beige and sterile (see before the pictures here). The addition of built-in appliances has made a huge positive difference in how our room feels and how we use our home every day!

The best compliment we got on the remodel is that it looks like it was built this way. I love that we went back in time by imitating historic homes rather than approaching newer trends. Add instant coziness!

When deciding how to decorate our dining room, I was torn between bookshelves and built-in wallpaper. Both have the potential to add a lot of personality to a room. I chose the built-in because I love to collect books and I know it can be styled in endless ways.

Here is a link to My dress. It has many colors. I recommend downsizing to one size.

Lighting is one of my favorite details in the room. It is called Meme Tulip Drop Chandelier, and it was given to me from Stray dog look. It is a real work of art, as it is sculpted by hand.

The jade ceramic is a do-it-yourself item (I saved the glass and ceramic vase and painted them).

As the shelves filled up, I wrote an article about my old book collection. Most of the books on these shelves are books I bought used.

I’m so proud of my spooky book collection. Whatever genre of books you are passionate about, a house full of books is my favorite type of house.

Let’s talk about the fireplace for a bit. I had a fixation on adding as many fireplaces to our home as possible (we started with one and ended with three).

We added this non-functional fireplace (also known as the “candle fireplace”) to the dining room. I love that you can add some light and sparkle to the space.

I found an antique cape at a flea market and we used it as the base for this fireplace. I had to find more sources and design around it. I love how it makes the whole room feel more antique.

Thank you so much for reading. If you’re interested in room tours and other homepage content, here are some of my personal favorites from this house:
