Destiny: Winx Saga’s Paulina Chávez on Flora .’s Importance
Fate: The Winx Saga still has a lot of magic up its sleeve.
In season two of Netflix’s teen drama, even more magical mischief has surfaced — and a very important character is on the way.
The second season features the highly-anticipated appearance of Flora, do Paulina Cháveza favorite character from team winsNickelodeon animated series Winx Saga based. That being said, Flora didn’t appear in season one.
Some fans accused the series of bleaching after the appearance of a new character named Terra, due to Eliot saltseems to replace the Latina fairy Flora.
In taking on this role, Chávez knows that expectations are high — especially given how significant Flora’s representation means.
“Actually I feel very supported,” Chávez exclusively told E! News about joining the series. “Yes, it was stressful. But a lot of people were excited. I was very excited.”
In fact, the online reaction even went to Chávez, who noted that she doesn’t “read tweets.”
“But my mom found one and someone tweeted, ‘The girl playing Flora is really Latina, we won’,” she continued. “I remember the first time I saw it I started to cry a little bit because it meant something to people, it really meant something to the Latino community.”
