In a joint press release on Thursday, DAZN and Golden Boy Promotion announced that they are continuing their partnership through a new contract signed and agreed to by both entities. “DAZN,” the statement read, “the leading global sports entertainment platform and US-based boxing house Golden Boy today announced a multi-year, multi-fight partnership to deliver boxing championships and unearthing the next generation of boxing talent.”
Golden Boy and DAZN have been working together since 2018. The new deal “will include championship fight nights along with a string of promising new developments – Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN – a monthly boxing series hosted by the Beto Duran boxing television station and the Bernard Hopkins Boxing Hall. Notable Golden Boy fighters were also featured in the press release.
“Additional blockbuster events that will follow in 2022,” it wrote, “will include the return of undefeated superstars Jaime Munguia, Ryan Garcia and Vergil Ortiz, Jr.. in June, July, and August.” Garcia is considered a particularly bright attraction, as this young Californian is fierce, very popular, and a born self-promoter. At this point, Garcia can be said to be the current face of Golden Boy Promotion.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with Golden Boy,” said Ed Breeze, EVP Rights at DAZN. “Golden Boy has an amazingly consistent form that includes some of the hottest prospects in boxing, and their shows are consistently packed with non-stop action from the first ring to the last minute. As part of the new partnership, we will be looking to unleash the next generation of boxing talent in the newly evolving series ‘Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN’. ”
