The asteroid is named 2022 PW, according to information provided by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of NASA. The asteroid will come close to 5.3 lakh kilometers from Earth. At 26,892 kilometers per hour, the asteroid would take only 19.7 hours to reach Earth, should a final moment of deflection occur for some reason.
At this point, predictive models say that the asteroid will not hit Earth and will instead make a safe trip through our planet. However, a close eye was watched to ensure it passed safely.
Asteroids come as close to Earth as the Moon
Even if the near-earth object (NEO) was discovered by NASA just last month, we were still able to collect some data about it.
