We can final revealed that yes, Cursed to Golf will launch on August 18th and will have the first date on Golf course PS5 and PS4! As lifelong PlayStation fans, we couldn’t be happier when PlayStation players hit the deep links in Golf Purgatory with us. So what is Cursed to Golf? Well, it’s ‘Golf-Like’, which means it’s like a 2D side-scrolling golf game with some genre-twisted roguelike elements. Sounds like an odd combination? Welcome to Golf Purgatory
In Cursed to Golf, you play as a golf champion who tragically dies just as he is about to win a tournament. Instead of going to heaven (or hell), you find yourself in Golf Purgatory. Once there is a muscular apparition informing you that you have been… CURSED! But all in all, if you can golf your way through the ever-changing 18-hole course, you’ll be able to come to life again. In the grand tradition of every adventure story, no one has ever gotten over it before, but hey, things could be different this time. If you miss a hole, be prepared for your nasty curse to hit you back to the beginning of the course so you can start all over again.
Golf in the dead land is very different from the sport we all know and love. For starters, the course consists of 18 holes, but each time you tee off, holes are randomly selected from over 70 hand-designed holes to create a new course. These holes are like a dungeon, often with multiple paths leading to the flag, going in different directions, full of traps and dangers. Some, like water and bunkers you may have seen before, but also Grave Grabbers, deadly spikes, exploding TNT boxes and more to stop you along the way. The course also spans 4 biomes: Purgatory, Desert, Cave, and Hell, each of which adds unique twists based on their theme. On top of that, you only have 5 shots to get past the flag. Damn, this curse is no mess!
An ace in the hole
Did not completely However, evil, of course, there are countless ways to give yourself an edge through this challenging course. In addition to the dangers, the holes have many useful objects. Shooting idols are a blessing from the god of golf, rewarding you with extra hits when smashing through them, the teleporter will bring you closer to the flag, even the TNT box can sometimes hide shortcuts, you should detonate them properly! On top of that, the ACE CARD gives you amazing one-time use that you can never use in real life. Go back in time with the Mulligan, freeze water with the Ice Ball, guide your ball to the goal with the Rocket Ball, get out of difficult situations with the Gate, and blast your ball into three with the Scattershot. These are just a few of the 20+ power-ups you’ll have access to.
Graph your course
In between the holes you will be able to drive around the map in your Golf Cart. On the way to the next hole, you may see some treasure chests or card packs. You might come across a guy who’s completely out of the question, who will meet you at a fork in the road and help you choose which way to go. It’s always a good idea to stop by the Eterni-Tee store to buy card booster packs, swap out skins, or keep a few special cards in your case so they can last between runs. There is also a practice green available where you have an unlimited number of shots and access to all previously unlocked Ace Cards. This area is a great place to experiment with wacky shots and tactics. Try stacking three aces in one shot and see how far you can push the mechanics. After all, Play Has No Limits™ ;).
