Covid-19: Omicron declares ‘concern’, and Whitty’s ‘biggest worry’
NS The United States will restrict travel from South Africa and seven other South African countries to try to stop the spread of Omicron. From Monday, only US citizens and residents will be allowed to travel from the area. This follows similar flight bans imposed by the EU and UK. US officials said flights from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi would be blocked. Meanwhile, South Africa’s Health Minister Joe Phaahla said countries that imposed travel bans were trying to find “scapegoats”.
