Commonwealth Games 2022: UK announces women’s cricket team


The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Saturday announced the England women’s cricket team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham.

Heather Knight will lead the 15-member team in their T20 cricket debut at the biennial event. Alice Capsey and Freya Kemp are new faces on the team, while Issy Wong will get the chance to do T20I in her home city.

“We chose what we think is our best T20 team. We’ve had our eye on continuing our T20 game, but we believe this lineup gives us the best chance of success in the Commonwealth Games – and that’s what’s really exciting. encouraging,” said head coach Lisa Keightley.

“In general, T20 cricket and women’s cricket are always evolving – and to put ourselves in a position to win global tournaments, we have to move forward with it, aggressive, dynamic and a part of our selection. we are embracing that.
