Co-founder of Nintendo-owned Studio Next Level Games announces retirement
Next Level Games co-founder, current president and former CEO Douglas Tronsgard has announced that he is retiring after more than 20 years.
He shared a brief message about LinkedIn Thanks to everyone at Nintendo and the Canada-based developer for believing in him. Here is the full:
“After over 20 years in the video game industry, I’m happy to announce my retirement. I want to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who has helped me on my journey here. Thank you very much. Special thanks to Nintendo for believing in me and Next Level Games.I’m truly honored to be a part of NLG’s incredible history.
“I’m looking forward to a new chapter in my life that will be filled with traveling with my wife. Take care of everyone and enjoy this journey! Douglas.”
The next level game is currently in development Mario Strikers: Battle League – coming on Nintendo Switch this June. Last year it was also acquired by Nintendoafter its work on games such as Luigi’s Mansion, Mario Strikers, Punch-Out!! and Metroid Prime: Federation Forces.
