CNN President Jeff Zucker resigned Wednesday after revealing he had failed to disclose what he called a “consensus relationship with my closest colleague” during an investigation into the former host. Chris Cuomo network show.
“I was required to disclose it when it started, but I didn’t,” Zucker said in a statement about that relationship, with the unidentified woman he has worked with for more than 20 years.
“I’m wrong.”
“As a result, I resign today,” he said.
CNN declined to comment when contacted by CNBC.
The New York Times identified the woman as Allison Gollust, CNN Worldwide’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
Gollust previously served as communications director for former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, brother of Chris Cuomo.
In a statement to The Times, Gollust said, “Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years.”
“Recently, our relationship changed during Covid. I’m sorry we didn’t reveal that at the right time. I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN and looking forward to continuing the great work we do every day,” said Gollust.
