Climate change denial on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok remains ‘worse than ever’

Lies, hoaxes and conspiracy theories about climate change are still prevalent on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. despite pledges to suppress, a new report said.

John Cook, a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Climate Change Media Studies at Monash University who advises Facebook, said the rise of climate misinformation in the media Social media reflects the flow of misinformation that comes from a combination of scientific denial and skepticism about climate policy and renewable fuels and technology.

Calling claims that activists want to restrict our freedoms is “misinformation” is absurd, as John Cook attacked such claims amid calls for USA Today to censor media social media.
For fairness, John Cook himself seems to have carefully directed the matter of censorship. But he wants social media companies to tag “misinformation” about climate, doing more to push people to his point of view.
Cook’s claim that climate activists do not want to restrict freedoms is not supported by evidence. There are many overt attacks by climate activists on freedom in the mainstream media:

- Call a Permanent climate lock.
- Green attacks on democracy – Foreign Policy, Financial Times, Conversation, Conversations (again), Guardians, Hill, Science Mag, James Hansen…
- Slowing down economic growth – NYT, Sci Tech Daily, New Federalist, Tablet (Laudato Si), Ted Talks, Guardians…
- Ending Capitalism – Guardians, Deputy (UN)…
- Punishment for climate skepticism – University of Graz, Carbon Summary, NZ Herald…
- Limited dietary choices – University of London, PLoS one, All3dP, Guardians (UN), UN, Washington Post…
This is just a small example of public calls for freedom to be limited, democracy eliminated, or “climate deniers” punished for expressing their views, but I think I have proven my point.
- A significant number of prominent climate activists want to limit your freedom.
- A significant number of climate activists want to punish anyone who openly disagrees with their views on climate change, by captioning or moderating their social media posts, close social media accounts or in some cases by imposing criminal penalties.
- A significant number of climate activists want to limit economic growth and capitalism, effectively eroding the right of ordinary people to start their own businesses.
This story of censorship would be too absurd to be considered, but in today’s world of out-of-control, climate catastrophe, cultural cancellation, and locked-in mania, our liberties are at stake. threaten. In my view, the freedoms we take for granted could be taken from us, if stories promoted by the likes of Herr John Cook and Michael Mann prevail.
