NEIL BREENeil Breen is calling for a school teacher to be suspended after reports that she refused to run the air conditioner.
A Brisbane father claimed on November 4 a teacher at Corinda State High School told her students she would only consider pressing the ‘on’ button if the temperature reached 40 degrees.
Parents claimed the teacher scolded the class for not caring about climate change and called them “ignorant and selfish”.

Corinda State High School is in Brisbane, Australia, a subtropical city with a similar climate to Austin, Texas. Brisbane experiences prolonged hot and humid weather in the summer, especially in the densely populated suburbs. Note I do not suggest that Corinda State High School will in any way tolerate a teacher who refuses to provide air-conditioning to a student.
Most teachers don’t like this. I hope that all this could be a big misunderstanding, like maybe the teacher cracked a bad joke, “don’t you care about climate change?”, before turning on the air conditioner, which in the heat of the moment was misunderstood by students. .
But regardless of the facts in this case, there still seems to be a toxic minority of teachers who believe that it is their job to brainwash and bully the children in their care, who faculty go beyond the curriculum on climate issues.
