French prosecutors are investigating allegations of rape against a government member who worked as a gynecologist.
Chrysoula Zacharopoulou was appointed development secretary last month and is now accused of performing gynecological exams on two women without their consent.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said the first rape complaint was filed on May 25 and the second on June 16.
She has yet to comment publicly on the allegations.
Details of the statements have yet to be released, but French media say Ms Zacharopoulou, 46, has been accused of entering without consent.
Rape is defined in French law as any act of intrusion by force, threat, coercion or surprise.
