The new Chronoswiss Open Gear ReSec Jungle.
The 44mm watch, with its familiar Chronoswiss multi-layer adjustment dial, knurled bezel and onion crown, features a distinct hour hand and prominent central minute hand.
Named for its flagship function (ReSec stands for Retrograde Seconds), the watch’s jumping seconds hand along the bottom half of the dial operates in a semi-circle, jumping from the 30-second position back to Start the arc to complete the minute count.
For this new fifty-piece limited edition, the Chronoswiss jacket is handcrafted in rippling guilloche with green chemical vapor deposition. The combination creates a color changing effect that seems much deeper than it really is.
“The wavy pattern on this watch is inspired by what you would see in that situation, its vibrant colors changing seamlessly from racing green to silver blue and glossy black,” the owner said. and Chronoswiss director Oliver Ebstein said.
He explains that Chronoswiss artisans create the watch’s distinctive multi-layered effect by layering the dial inside black zinc-plated bridges, the sub-dials and the movement’s wheels are galvanized – all of which are framed. by an internal marking (luminescence).
Chronoswiss designer Maik Panziera explains: “With many models, you can create 4-5 waves by varying the diameter with a simple switch. “But with the palm leaf-inspired moiré pattern, it’s a different story.”
He adds that the copper wheels guiding the movement of the machine must be changed after each wave cut.
“But it’s worth it – in the end, you have a great model that you can’t compare to CNC products. “Manufacturing the guilloché by hand really excites me as it gives each watch a distinct soul,” he adds.
