Chris Tucker on Why He Doesn’t Want to Film a ‘Friday’ Sequel
Chris Tucker, who played Smokey in Friday, shared why he doesn’t want to star in the movie’s sequels.
He says that his personality is a bad influence.
“Back then, I have to tell you, one of the reasons why I didn’t do the second one was because of the weeds,” he said.
“Because I said, ‘God, that movie has become a phenomenon. I don’t want people to smoke cigarettes’.” I never actually told people this because I forgot about it but that’s one of the reasons why I don’t do it. Because I said, ‘I don’t want to represent everyone who smokes’. I actually made it more personal than a movie, and that’s one of the reasons I said, ‘No, I don’t want to continue doing that character.’
He also talked about being paid only $10,000 for the movie.
“It’s one of those things – it’s just a little movie,” he continued. “We shot it in 20 days. I got about $10,000 for it or whatever, I don’t care. I wanted to take a chance. It’s a small movie, but that’s the beauty of it. “
