Chloe Fineman would rather use Augustinus Bader cream than drink water

Over the past few years, Chloe Fineman has enjoyed a tremendous upsurge. Before she became a serious comedy contender, she did comedy about her Instagram page with her iPhone and one of her favorite wigs. You may know her for her impressions, which always stand out. After gaining a position as an actor on Saturday night live in 2019, she is frequently seen on TV imitating people from Megan Fox Britney Spears to Elmo.

As you can guess from her propensity to transform herself into someone else, SNL the star knows how to use many beauty tricks, such as using Pat McGrath color palette for everything under the sun and eyelash roll giving her the most curled lashes. On a recent Zoom, I caught up with her about everything from the scent her father uses that she still uses to this day, to her new role as the face of Pantene.

Tell me about your new partnership with Pantene and what inspired you to work with the brand.

I love Pantene commercials and growing shiny hair. Those things are ingrained in my memory. I was so proud that they wanted to work together, and then when I found out it was with Meg Stalter, I felt great. And Jess King of Peloton And just like that reputation.

The one who killed Big.

Killed Big and now make conditioner.

Very impressive resume. Can you tell me a little bit about your own hair care routine?

It has certainly gone through a rhythm at work. That’s interesting because you’re wearing the wig with glued wigs, but then you don’t need to do a lot of heat with it because you’re wearing the wig. So definitely a lot of nourishing and moisturizing, that’s why Pantene is so perfect.

What about skincare? Is there anything you cannot live without in that realm?

Oh, a lot. It is constantly building and growing. I did laser work. I did a laser this summer, it changed my life. But that’s not so much skin care.

I really love Tracie Martyn. I like their moisturizer a lot. [It’s] tightening. I love the smell, but I’m definitely smelly. Living Libations has this seabuckthorn oil that you can buy on Amazon, and I use it as a moisturizer or take a hot towel and take it off, and it’s my favorite scent all over the world. DamDam Tokyo has these amazing masks, and [they’re] Really natural and smells great. Barbara Sturm — a huge fan of that expensive anti-aging thing, which I hoped would work and make a difference, but I don’t know. This summer, I discovered Augustinus Bader while I was in Atlanta, and it changed my skin.

The Rich Cream? Is that the one you use?

Yes, I became rich. This makeup artist loves it every day, You are not drinking enough water. You are not drinking enough water. And I was like, OKay, I hate water. I got it. And then I started using it and she was like, Well, you’re really drinking water! And I was like, hahaha!

Steal it with Augustinus Bader. In SNL, I feel maybe you always quick makeup. Are there any cool tricks you’ve learned from the makeup artists on set?

It’s really fast. My makeup artist, Daniela — we’re big fans of Pat McGrath on Chloe’s vanity table — she’ll take a Pat McGrath palette but also quickly use it as a blush. Then it suddenly became a blush highlighting situation. A lot of times, like if the outfit is more vibrant than we expected, she’ll take Pat McGrath and paint it over your lips. The trick is to have a Pat McGrath palette, and use it for nine million things.

On that note, do you have any favorite looks from SNL Makeup or hairdo?

This year, doing Megan Fox was so much fun because they literally remade her costume, and I felt like What? This is crazy! And usually, that’s what I like, Did you do this? Oh my gosh, how? Elmo is really happy that Elmo’s fur was made by the woman who made Elmo on Sesame Street. I think the costume department is very passionate about making it just right. I just adore it.

Do you have a signature perfume? Are you a person who likes perfumes?

I am a perfume lover. I wish I wore it more. I have three. One is messed up. My father always wore the Hermès Terre growing up, and I love the smell. And then I found out my best friend was wearing it. He bought it for me this summer, and now my boyfriend wears it. All the men in my life. But I really love that smell. Yeah, and then I really liked the Escentric Molecules 01. And then I think a lot of people are wearing it now except for Baccarat Rouge. I thought I was a genius when I found this secret scent, and now it’s become like the Santal 33 that everyone has worn forever. I wore it really hard until the bastards started wearing it.

I know. I think everyone did. And then I went on a date with Hinge like two years ago, and this guy wore it, and I was like, okay. Time to move on.

Others are going there. I need to find a new scent.

I feel like with Baccarat Rouge the problem is that it smells different to everyone. So I feel like you can get rid of it.

My sister wears it religiously because I introduced it to her, and it smells very floral on her.

Yes, it’s interesting.

There’s another one that the guy in the costume is in SNL wear that I also bought. I have one thing. If I see it on a man I like, I’ll wear it. Yeah, I don’t like women’s clothes. He wears a Kilian shirt. Yeah, Kilian Straight to Heaven, and that’s another thing that smells great to different people.

I feel like I’m always attracted to more masculine scents. I’m not a flirt. My final question is if you could attack Sephora, what would you get?

I’ll be getting the newest Pat McGrath palette that’s sold out. There’s always something that I want, and they’re like, Oh sorry! There is one that has a very nice pink color. Hourglass, I really like their palette. Makeup by Mario, I’ll get some lipstick. And then I would probably be a fool and just get La Mer because I never bought it.

Yes. I’ll probably get that too. Are there any other types of beauty products or treatments that you’ve heard of and that you haven’t tried but that you’d like to try based solely on word of mouth, like La Mer?

Definitely La Mer. I tried Fraxel Laser this summer, but now I want to try Morpheus or Halo. I’m at the age where all my friends are secretly getting Botox and fillers under the eyes. I definitely want under the eyes [filler] at some point, but I’m very careful about those things. My mom is really a natural about hippie doodles. I didn’t grow up with a mom who liked anything. And I really want to go for laser armpit hair removal. What else? Emsculpt. Drew Barrymore is in an Emsculpt commercial. Like Fraxel, I did for my mother like, Drew Barrymore can do it.

Are there five makeup products that you can’t do without or carry with you at all times?

Pat McGrath. Kevyn Aucoin eyelash curler. Bronzer Illuminated Hourglass. It’s a small thing. I carry it everywhere. And then there’s the Westman Atelier Lip Suede. I have nine million of them, and I always keep them in my wallet, and I love them. I also really like Charlotte Tilbury Golden Goddess.
