Chinese rover reveals new SECRET about water on Mars!

China’s Mars rover Zhurong has found a new interesting fact about Mars. This big secret has been revealed about water on Mars. Check here.

Water theory on Mars is getting more and more interesting! Prior to that, it was believed that Mars carried liquid water about 3 billion years ago, when the planet’s second geological era, known as the Hesperian Era, ended. Now, the current period of Mars, known as the Amazonian period, has no surface water. So, is there water on Mars? Any such revelation would pave the way for the discovery of some form of life on the Red Planet.

Now, China’s Mars rover Zhurong has found evidence that the Red Planet, which is now dry and cold, had liquid water on its surface more recently than previously thought. According to a new study based on data from the Chinese company Zhurong rover, evidence of water on the red planet’s surface is only about 700 million years ago! China’s Zhurong probe touched down on the Martian surface in May 2021, as part of the Tianwen-1 mission.

Data from the three systems on Zhurong were analyzed by scientists from the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSSC): laser-induced breakdown spectrometer (MarSCoDe), machine microscopic image telescope and short-wave infrared spectrometer. The researchers used data from the rover’s first 92 Mars days, or sols, at its Utopia Planitia landing site. According to the study, the researchers detected “hydrated sulfate/silica compounds on the Amazon soil at the landing site.”

These hydrated minerals are found in light colored rocks that have been described as locally formed double crusts. The gypsum coatings suggest that liquid water was created by rising groundwater or melting subsurface ice, according to the scientists. Researchers have speculated that instead of suffering a single drastic change, Mars may have gone through temperature cycles, moving from wet to warm and dry to cold.

Until now, previous evidence of liquid water systems on Mars has often been in the form of mineral salts. But Zhurong’s instruments found water molecules locked in the rock. The Zhurong Mars rover has covered nearly 2 km and evaluated various features over more than 350 days on Mars, suggesting that the rover is likely to continue to provide new insights into Mars. .
