By now, we are all well aware that sports . goods is expensive. Want a Yankees jersey? That would be one hundred dollars. Want a Lakers cap? ONEanother 50 dollars, please. But Formula 1 is a sport that excels at getting as much money as possible from its fans. And then outrage over the price of F1 goods upon arriving in Miami, the sport surpassed itself with a new Chanel t-shirt.
The shirts in question are not actually licensed by Formula 1, but they have a captivating design heavily influenced by the sport — especially its iconic Monaco Grand Prix.
In front of one, there was a blue racing car circling around a glittering track. The chauffeur has a Chanel badge surrounded by ocean blue, dotted with flowers and shapes that mimic the Monaco skyline.
The second one has a red background with a car with a black Chanel badge running past it. There are more flowers surrounding the car and the words “Chanel 5.” Both are nice shirts, I would probably wear something very similar if I saw it on sale at H&M or Zara.
But These shirts are not from H&M or Zara. they, they both have two little C’s on the front and center, which means these shirts actually cost a lot more than my t-shirt budget allows. In reality, snobbish high report that they are really attractively priced at $4,450.
That’s not only a huge amount of money to spend on a tee, but a huge amount to spend on anything related to Formula 1.
If you want some context, the unofficial race overpriced in the calendar, the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, doesn’t even charge that much to access. Sure, the six-figure sets we’ve covered here is too much, but even a ticket to the grandstand race will cost you less than half the price of these shirts.
Apparently, it’s a t-shirt aimed at people who can afford it $130,000 to tie up their yacht in Monaco instead of limping with the fans on the streets of Las Vegas.
And after all, a piece of goods like this Will last you, what, a few years? Memories of hours queuing for a portal while you watch race cars go by in the blink of an eye will stay with you for a lifetime.
