Champions League top scorer 2021-2022: Update the ranking of the golden shoe
There’s a familiar name at the top of the UEFA Champions League scoring charts: Bayern Munich Robert lewandowski. After his hat-trick on game day 4 and a beautiful kick with a bicycle kick in round 5, the Poland international rose to the top of the standings, over two hot goalscoring players. Another burn in the Champions League, Ajax Amsterdam. Sebastien Haller.
Haller has scored in every goal Ajax has played in. He exploded with four goals in Ajax’s opening game and then scored one in the next three to hit seven goals for the tournament. Both Lewandowski and Haller have achieved impressive records when you consider that last season’s top scorer, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, has the league’s best total of 10 goals.
But keep an eye out for the superstars Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) and Mo Salah (Liverpool), both are ranked behind the top two positions. Ronaldo scored twice in the fourth game to increase it to five goals, even with Salah, who failed to find a goal against Atletico Madrid. RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku joined the rare company after scoring against PSG.
