Thankfully there were no serious injuries – but it was a measure of the growing frustration for the green protesters that someone was going to do something so reckless.

A commuter appeared to have lost patience with the Blockade Australia protesters in Sydney’s CBD on Monday morning as they drove straight through a crowd.

June 27, 2022 – 10:50amA motorist sped through a crowd of Blockade Australia protesters in Sydney’s CBD – and narrowly avoided disaster.
Climate activists took to the streets on Monday morning to “disturb the political and economic system”.
Protesters were walking through an intersection just before 9 a.m. downtown when a driver in a gray SUV grew impatient with the delay and sped at protesters.
The vehicle slowed when it came into contact with protesters, who were pushed away, while others struggled to hold position in front of the bonnet.
The car then continued its journey forward and drove away from the group. It is understood that no one was injured.

I fully support the right to protest, and WUWT certainly does not endorse violence or attacks on protesters. But surely there must be a balance? Like I’m happy for funny green hippos wearing fossil fuel fabrics waving banners and chanting their slogans, its free street theater as far as I’m concerned. But they need to let the traffic pass.
