Canon says it can take half a year for your EOS R3 order to be delivered: Digital Photography Review
Ongoing chip shortages and general supply chain constraints have affected most camera and lens manufacturers. Just last week, Sony announced that it would no longer be taking orders for some of its older mirrorless cameras. Now, Canon has published a notice informing consumers that orders for its flagship EOS R3 mirrorless camera can take up to six months to deliver.
In the announcement, shared on Canon’s website with the title ‘Apologies and guidance on product availability’, Canon said it can take ‘a lot of time’ to ship the EOS R3 and RF. Its new 14–35mm F4 L IS USM is out for consumers. Canon says ‘products are scheduled to ship one product at a time’, but it won’t happen at a rapid pace.
According to Canon, ‘it can take more than half a year for delivery when you place a new order’ for the EOS R3 camera and its RF 14–35mm F4 L IS USM lens. Other lenses and accessories are also being affected. Specifically, Canon says the RF 16mm F2.8 STM, RF 100–400mm F5.6–8 IS USM and RF 400mm F2.8 L IS USM will ‘take longer than usual to ship’.
It is not necessarily a surprise considering the current state of the market. But it should be noted that you may want to plan accordingly if you anticipate needing Canon’s EOS R3 soon.
