During his career with the Hall of Fame, Canelo Alvarez has pocketed many big wins. However, as the curtains close on his remarkable 2021, the Mexican star is arguably his best year to date.

With wins over Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant, along with a tough win over Avni Yildirim, Alvarez proudly looks back on his year.

During the Mexican star’s last ring appearance of the year before Plant, he was forced to solve an intricate puzzle. Although Alvarez was considered a pretty big favorite, Plant’s boxing prowess proved to be much more troublesome than many expected. However, despite his early success, Plant will not be able to succumb to the equalizer star through injury time in round 11.

Victory for Alvarez was a godsend as he became the first undisputed super-middleweight champion of all time. But while he successfully etched his name into the boxing history books forever, Alvarez revealed that his historic victory is not his favorite in 2021.

“I think Caleb Plant is a bigger fight because there is only one belt left. But the fight that I enjoyed was Billy Joe Saunders,” Alvarez told RingMagazine. “He says a lot of nonsense and we have 73,000 people.”

Before Alvarez crowned his crucial victory over Plant, he patiently watched the days go by before the game against Saunders. Over the years, the British production time and again asserted that Alvarez was not an exceptional boxer.

With arrogance overflowing, Saunders continued to defame Alvarez directly in his face throughout their entire match. Even with just a few days left until their contest, the Saunders threatened to withdraw from their competition due to the size of the ring.

By gritting his teeth and clenching his fists, Alvarez accepted Saunders’ disparaging words but promised to make him pay dearly, which proved to be true.

As their game progresses, Saunders is not just his own. However, just before the 1/8 round closed, Alvarez had a picturesque top right header. The force of the blow fractured Saunders’ right orbital bone and eye socket. Therefore, the former WBO player finally decided to retire. While the victory over Plant may be more historic, the victory over Saunders is what Alvarez considers most satisfying.
