Champagne was flowing after Golden Empire Warriors their fourth win NBA headlines for eight years last week. But before the bottles were emptied, the champions answered a question about running it again next season.
Do they keep the lineup together? If they do, they may have to continue to be the top spenders in the league.
Final MVP Stephen the curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all are back next season and look confident to win that fifth round, especially as the younger players like Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole and Jonathan Kuminga expected to be next to the veterans.
“And we’re not done yet,” Thompson said Friday while appearing on Green’s podcast. “That’s the great thing about it. We have these young people behind us, and we have the same lineup back? That’s scary for the NBA.”

Wiggins and Poole are both entering the final years of their contracts and possibly the future of the organization. Both were asked about staying in the Bay Area long-term during exit interviews.
“I’d love to stay here,” Wiggins said Saturday afternoon. “Being here, this is top notch. The way they treat the players… we’re all one big family. I feel a lot of places could say that, but they show it through. his actions.”
Poole, on the other hand, hasn’t looked too far yet.
“If I’m being completely honest, I can’t even fathom anything about that process,” Poole said. “I was locked into the championship. Like, we knew it was going to happen, we put ourselves in a situation to succeed and everything else would take care of itself.”
Signing long-term contracts with Poole and Wiggins will be essential, but the team also has some freelance staff to think about this season. Gary Payton II, Andre Iguodala, Kevon Looney, Otto Porter Jr., Nemanja Bjelica, Damion Lee and Chris Chiozza All will be unlimited free agents. Juan Toscano-Anderson and Quinndary Weatherspoon will be restricted to free agents.
On top of that, the Warriors had a strong top lineup. Based on Spotrac.comThe quartet Curry ($48 million), Thompson ($40.6 million), Wiggins ($33.6 million) and Green ($25.8 million) alone took up more than 70% of the limited space of them for next season.
That leaves the franchise facing an estimated luxury goods tax bill of more than $74 million as their listings currently stand.
Of course, the Warriors didn’t mind spending money, and – like Sporting News published last week – the franchise spent more than $170 million on luxury goods tax alone last season.
Will the Warriors continue to spend big to win big? Or will the strategy change as they move forward?
Golden State may not be able to keep all of their players, but one thing is clear, the players seem eager to get a similar roster out of this championship looking ahead to next season. .
