Calling for a ban on gas stoves is unscientific, anti-liberal and anti-energy

Alex Epstein

Calling to ban gas stoves is anti-science, anti-liberal, anti-energy

Instead of providing us with accurate scientific information about gas stoves so we can make more informed decisions, anti-fossil fuel activists are distorting the science to justify imposing their anti-gas program on us.

  • At the beginning of 2023 there was a carefully orchestrated campaign Inside:

    1. An article whose main author is a anti-fossil fuel activist claims that gas stoves cause 12.7% of asthma in children.
    2. The Federal government and NY propose ban on a new gas stove.

    We should reject this campaign.first

  • The campaign against gas stoves should be rejected for three reasons:
    1. Families have the right to incorporate any real science on gas stoves when they judge the best
    2. The 12.7% claim is a scientific distortion
    3. The anti-gas movement is a threat to the grid and therefore to our health
  • How to use gas or electric stoves should be decided by individuals and families based on what they best judge. For example, many people would rationally choose a cheaper, more functional gas stove with good ventilation as the best option.
  • Have Many decisions families make affect children’s health more than gas stoves than electric stoves: what kind of food children eat, how much exercise and how much money parents allocate for health compared to other expenses.

Can governments then dictate all of this?

  • Who has the right to dictate what parents feed their children, how much exercise they do, and how much money the family spends on health care?

    No.

Surname only right to try to convince parents with good information and arguments. The same applies to gas stoves.

  • Whenever someone offers you “science,” not to inform your voluntary choices but to impose a ban on you, you can be confident that what they call science study is a perversion.

This is certainly the case with the correct false claim that gas stoves cause 12.7% of asthma in children.

  • Any confident claim that the specific cause of X% of asthma is BS. Asthma is a group of symptoms for which researchers don’t have a clear cause picture.

As the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute states, “The exact cause of asthma is unknown, and causes can vary from person to person.”2

  • The evidence is clear that stoves are not a top concern for asthma: In the US, both CA, the state with the highest rate of gas stove use, and ND, the state with the lowest rate of gas stove use , all had the lowest rates of asthma. .3
  • observe that CDC data shows that between 1980 and the mid-1990s, the incidence of asthma nearly doubled, although air pollution has fallen dramatically.. This is anticorrelation that contradicts the view that asthma is mainly caused by pollution.4

The lead author of the article that once argued for a ban on gas stoves is linked with the Rocky Mountain Institute, headed by Amory Lovins—an “energy expert” who opposes energy said: “It would be disastrous if we discovered an abundant, cheap and clean energy source.”6

  • Fossil fuel opponents always make the same mistake: they argue about limiting or banning the use of fossil fuels by ignoring the great benefits of fossil fuels and disaster negative side effects of fossil fuels.

Their latest campaign focuses on life-giving natural gas.

  • Natural gas is absolutely vital to our standard of living and therefore our health. Gas is our primary source of electricity and provides vital energy for heating and for gas stoves.

The anti-gas movement makes us increasingly dependent on more expensive and unreliable electricity.7

  • Observing trends in the anti-fossil fuel movement tells us we need to electrify everything and oppose reliable sources of electricity.

One important protection against this is the right to use non-electrical devices: cars, fireplaces and stoves. We must fight for this protection.

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest asthma surveillance shows that the most important factor in the incidence of asthma to be earnings = earnings and ethnicity—with ethnicity being another income indicator.

    As usual, wealth is health.

Reducing wealth through anti-fossil fuel policies is anti-health.8

  • Anti-fossil fuel activists seized the opportunity to stir up panic over gas stoves. One person repeated the “12.7%” lie, then ran a self-spread test that detected emissions exceeding recommended levels. His “solution” is not better ventilation but to force his agenda.9
