Calcolery, a 2-year-old filly by freshman stallion Computer broke her maidenhood on June 26 at Indianapolis Horseshoe to give her her first winning male.
Calculator, a 12-year-old Grade 3 winner, was bred by In Summation from Back to Basics, by Alphabet Soup, and is currently being bred at Breakway Farm in Dillsboro, Indiana. This horse’s 2024 breeding fee is $2,500.
Calcolery was bred in Indiana by Dawn Martin and is out of the winning mare Flatter Cajolery. She is half the length of stakes winner Ekati Flatter, by The story of Ekati .
Calcolery is trained by Genaro Garcia for Southwest Racing Stables and Triple V Racing. She is starting her third career at the first Indiana-bred special weight company. Crashing at the start of Wednesday’s race, Calcolery led in :23.32 and :47.87. She won by 2 3/4 lengths, running 5 furlongs in 1:01.20 on a fast wet track.
Computer was bred by Ocala Stud in Florida. Trainer Peter Miller purchased Calculator from his breeder’s lot at the 2014 Ocala Breeders Spring 2-Year-Old Training Sale for $132,000 on behalf of Richard C. Pell.
Calculator placed in the 2014 Del Mar Futurity (G1) and FrontRunner Stakes (G1) at age 2 and was named Florida’s champion 2-year-old colt that year. As a 3-year-old, he won the 2015 Sham Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita Park. He had another Grade 1 placing in the 2016 Carter Handicap (G1) at Aqueduct Racetrack and in 2018 won the Clocker’s Corner Stakes, also at Santa Anita.
