Cadillac applies to Ascendiq and Escalade IQ brands

Let’s start with what we know. In the first day of this month, CarBuzz discovered Brand applications Cadillac submitted to various agencies in the US and Europe for name reservation Vistiq, Lumistiq, and Escalade IQL. Now, before the month ends, CarBuzz had found another pair of trademark applications that Cadillac filed for exclusive rights to the name Ascendiq and Escalade IQ. Sticking with what we know, the -iq suffix, as in Lyriq and Celestiq (pronounced “ik”, not “eek”), indicates Cadillac’s upcoming line of battery-powered vehicles. That started with Lyriq intersection early next year, then the Celestiq flagship sedan in 2023 (pictured). Fully electric Escalade will launch in 2025. We assume the Escalade IQ and a longer version called the Escalade IQL will be the battery-electric twins for the current ICE-powered Escalade and Escalade ESV.

They’re three of the six electric vehicles we’re expecting from Cadillac by the end of 2025. Moving on to what we suspect, two of the other three are crossovers, the last of which is just called an EV.” low roof”. In July 2020, GM apply to brand name Symboliq and Optiq. It was thought these would be the two upcoming crossovers, but an examination with the US Patent and Trademark Office found both trademarks dead at the time of writing. GM has an open trademark application for “optiq, “but it is not classified with motor vehicles, it is for a downloadable software application.

As we have written many times before, USPTO applications do not mean we will never see a registered name or product. With that, we have three mysterious Cadillac cars left and three names: Vistiq, Lumistiq and Ascendiq. We also have a question: Is this too much iq? Many of us have applauded brands for giving up the letters and numbers on their cars for their own names because it could ultimately mean a clear distinction between one vehicle and another. If all the names come from the same or similar phonemes, this might be like meeting five siblings named Barry, Mary, Terry, Larry, and Gary. And we know how hilarious and cruel that can get. So wait a moment.
