If you’re fed up of cramming all the different camera bags and spotlights into your car, you’re not alone. With a little know-how, you can save yourself the headache of building the ultimate production truck.
You don’t have to search too much on the internet to see how popular trucks are these days. A quick look at #VanLife Motion will give you an idea of some of the creative transformations people are making to their vehicles. Norwegian Film Channel Andyax There are some of these creative individuals, as they have just converted a Volkswagen Transporter into a movie production truck.
The video begins with one of the team at Andyax explaining their motivation for buying a truck and the original design concepts for the inside. Everything from storage, sleeping arrangements and cooking is discussed in the layout. These comprehensive considerations really allow driving to a location and being completely self-sufficient. The biggest barrier to self-sufficiency is often power. In this build, that issue is being solved by EcoFlow DELTA Pro mobile power station can harness an incredible 3.6 kWh capacity. For us photographers, that would really be a lot of water to run lights, laptops, and camera batteries for days on end. In the video, they go even further and double their power with extra battery and some Solar power panels.
The second half of the video shows them using the finished production van in a real shoot. It’s great to see them run some lights that are easy to power off and have all the luxury storage for their kits. They even have a handy “office space” for comfortable editing on the go. I don’t know about you, but the idea of a production truck really made my life on site so much easier. The ability to power all of my devices, edit my work on the go, and sleep in the background when I need it will really open up an exciting world for me as an artist. photographer.
