This is the launch of the extended-range version of the first BrahMos missile from the Su-30MKI aircraft. With this, the IAF has gained the ability to carry out precision strikes from Su-30MKI aircraft against land / sea targets at very long ranges.
The ministry said the dedicated and synergistic efforts of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Indian Navy, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Bengal Capital Aviation Project (BAPL) and Industry Hindustan Aviation Ltd (HAL) has demonstrated the nation’s ability to achieve this feat.
The ministry said the missile’s extended range capabilities coupled with the high performance of the Su-30MKI give the IAF a strategic reach and allow it to dominate future battlefields.
